Where Will The Madness End?
First it was genetically modified crops. Now it’s genetically modified viruses. There’s so much opposition to genetically modified crops that Monsanto pulled back at the brink. But genetically modified viruses…? Research has been carried out at St Louis University Medical School in the USA, into modifying viruses that ordinarily give similar symptoms to the common cold in children. (Could it be that similar research was responsible for the SARS virus? It’s easy to blame chickens that can’t argue.) The modified viruses are designed to attack cancers. According to information published on 17th May 2004, the viruses when injected into tumours, “suppress the tumour growth.” So far this appears to have been with cultures in laboratory conditions. Plus one reference to animal testing: “In an animal model of colon cancer, injection of either INGN 007 or INGN 009 into tumours suppressed tumour growth more efficiently than a negative control.” There doesn’t appear to be any reference to actually killing the cancer – just suppressing the growth. The aim is to develop new cancer treatment drugs. But if the drugs only suppress tumour growth, it achieves exactly what the drugs manufacturers want: you dependant on their drugs long term! Cancer treatment rakes in billions of pounds a year for them! “Long may it continue,” is their viewpoint. Long term dependency on drugs that only suppress but don’t cure, is what rakes the biggest profits into the drugs manufacturers’ coffers. They love it! What is so sick about all of this though, is that more effective and beneficial treatments get filed in the rubbish bin because there’s no big profit in them. There are over 100 natural cancer treatments. Many are much more successful than chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which according to some sources are only 4% successful. But because they are natural, the drugs companies can’t patent them. And if they can’t patent them, profit margins are small. Scientists employed by the drugs companies can be relied on to rubbish and disprove any natural remedies that threaten the profits of their masters. And in the USA the Food & Drugs Authority can be relied on to favour the drugs companies. After all huge profits pay big taxes. For big business, profit is God. Pharmaceuticals are amongst the biggest businesses in the world… because of the gigantic profits. With enormous wealth comes enormous power and influence. All of which Big Business wants to retain. But ‘modified viruses’ sounds very scary: what happens when they escape and mutate? Another worldwide plague? Doesn't it make so much more sense to prevent cancer through sensible use of nutritional supplements? You don't get plagues that way!
